Eddie Vedder Being Sued

Eddie Vedder is being sued by musician Gordon Peterson claims The New York Post. Eddie Veder, of Pearl Jam fame, recorded a cover of Peterson’s “Hard Sun” for the critically acclaimed 2007 movie “Into the Wild”. The suit alleges that Vedder changed some of the lyrics in the song “…eroding the integrity of the composition”. The suit also claims that Universal had licensed the song without his prior knowledge or permission.

Chris Brown has announced a “Fan Appreciation” tour of small venues for November and December 2009. It is unknown if it is being held in small venues because the domestic abuser has no fans left that appreciate him. The dates are:

Def Leppard cancel third leg of North American tour

Def Leppard have cancelled the third leg of their North American tour. An official statement on the Def Leppard website reads:

Due to unforeseen personal matters, the third leg of Def Leppard’s North American Tour, set to begin on October 22nd, has been cancelled. “We know how truly blessed we are to have such committed fans,” said the band in a statement. “That’s why we’ve agonized over this decision. Even if just a single concert, we don’t take cancelling shows lightly, but unfortunately life’s commitments need to be the priority.”

Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.

It is not known what the ‘personal’ matters are.

“A-Ha” to split in 2010

Norwegian music sensations “A-Ha” are to split after a world tour in 2010 according to their official website. The following is the official statement released by the trio on their site:

We’ve literally lived the ultimate boy’s adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for.
Doing this now will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else – and of course through new constellations in the field of art and music. We are retiring as a band, not as individuals.
Change is always difficult and It is easy to get set in one’s ways. Now it is time to move on.

2010 marks the 25th anniversary of their biggest single “Take On Me” which reached number 1 in 27 countries around the world and was released from their multi-platinum “Hunting High & Low” album. The tour dates for their farewell tour are currently unknown but it will end in Oslo on December 4th 2010.

Rihanna reveals release date of new album

Rihanna’s fourth studio album will be released on November 23rd 2009, she has revealed on her Twitter page. The album follows “”Music of the Sun”, “A Girl Like Me” and “Good Girl Gone Bad” and will include the producing and song-writing talents of Ne-Yo, Jay-Z and Pharrell among others. No title or tracklisting has been released yet.

Al Martino dies

Singer Al Martino has died aged 82 in Philadelphia from what is believed to be natural causes. Most famous for his title track for the movie “The Godfather” (in which he also played Johnny Fontane), Martino had a long and largely successful career spanning over 50 years. His hits include “Spanish Eyes”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “Volare”.
