In the last decade there has been a renewed and more mainstream interest in vampire movies, with the Blade, Underworld and Twilight series’ leading the way. It looks like there could be some competition in the way of Michael and Peter Spierig’s “Daybreakers” which has proved successful so far on the festival circuit and is due to get a wide release on January 8th 2010. Starring Sam Neill, Willem Defoe, Isabel Lucas and Ethan Hawke, “Daybreakers” is set in 2019, a time where a plague has transformed humans into vampires who are fast running out of blood. Whilst some of the new species plot their survival, others attempt to become human again.
