Sweet Valley High started it’s life as a series of nearly 200 books aimed at teenage girls. With the books popularity came a TV show which ran between 1994 and 1997 and lasted 88 episodes over 4 seasons before it was eventually cancelled. 12 years later and it looks like a movie is now in the works with Universal signing up current ‘hot writer’ Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body). With Cody’s penchant for teen dialogue, it’s certainly hoped that the Sweet Valley High movie manages the same success as 1994’s Clueless produced by Paramount. No news yet on a director or cast.
